A man was taken into custody without incident Friday after Elizabeth City police said he barricaded himself in the house a judge had ordered him to steer clear of.

Jordan Michael Drake, 28, was charged with one count of violating a domestic violence protection order following his arrest, an Elizabeth City Police Department press release states.

According to police, officers received a report around 1:33 p.m. of someone trespassing at a residence in the 900 block of Raleigh Street.

At the scene, officers learned that Drake was at the residence and that the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office had previously served him with a domestic violence protection order, barring him from being on the property.

After Drake barricaded himself inside a bedroom in the house, police sought and were granted a warrant to enter the home and arrest him, the release states. Drake was transported to Albemarle District Jail where he will be confined for 48 hours.

An arrest report from the Pasquotank Sheriff’s Office states that Drake was also arrested on Feb. 8 and charged with one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and violating a domestic violence protection order. In that incident the arresting deputy used his stun gun in apprehending Drake, according to the sheriff’s office incident report.
