An administrator with the Bertie County Schools is the new principal at Pasquotank Elementary School.
The Board of Education approved the hiring of Jamie Liverman as principal at Pasquotank on Thursday, agreeing with the recommendation of Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools Superintendent Catherine Edmonds.
An educator for 21 years, Liverman currently works as executive director of instructional programs and school improvement in the Bertie County Schools. He also has worked as a principal for 10 years and director of exception children for three years.
According to an ECPPS press release, Liverman has “a proven track record” of turning around both middle and high schools. He also has “extensive experience” working with schools to increase student achievement.
“Mr. Liverman will be a tremendous asset to ECPPS and will serve the families and staff at Pasquotank Elementary well,” Edmonds said in the release. “He has a passion for helping children realize their potential, by supporting teachers to better meet the needs of students.”
Edmonds, who began as ECPPS superintendent last month, also came to the district from the Bertie County Schools.
For his part, Liverman said he’s “excited” about coming to ECPPS and looks forward to working with students and staff at Pasquotank Elementary.
“I am passionate about connecting with parents and the community to create a learning environment that is supportive and positive for everyone,” he said in the press release. “I believe high expectations, along with support and accountability, will be the driving force to move student academic performance at Pasquotank Elementary. I am pleased to be a part of the ECPPS community.”
According to ECPPS, Liverman holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from Elizabeth City State University and master’s degrees in both special education and school administration from East Carolina University. He also earned a certificate of advanced graduate studies in educational leadership from Cambridge College.
Liverman's starting date at Pasquotank Elementary has not been determined, according to the press release.
