CAMDEN — Camden commissioners have approved a 7-percent salary increase for the county manager.
Commissioners voted last week to approve the raise for County Manager Ken Bowman following his annual performance review.
Bowman’s new salary, which takes effect Jan. 1, will be $117,871. His current salary is slightly more than $110,000.
When he was hired in December 2017, Bowman’s annual salary was $93,000.
The county manager told the board he appreciated the salary increase but appreciates more the opportunity to serve the citizens of Camden County. Bowman said the county’s staff is as good as any local government staff anywhere.
The commissioners also voted unanimously last week to appoint Stephanie Jackson the county’s finance officer. Jackson’s annual salary will be $65,922.
Jackson replaces Sally Norfleet, who became finance officer for the Camden County Schools effective Oct. 1. Norfleet’s annual salary with the school district is $81,924.
Norfleet had been Camden’s deputy finance officer for the past two years. She served as interim finance officer after Stephanie Humphries’ departure in February for a finance director’s job in Isle of Wight County in Virginia, and was named county finance officer in April. She earned $64,629 annually as finance officer.
Norfleet is no stranger to the schools office. Before taking the job as deputy finance officer for Camden County she worked as assistant finance officer for the Camden County Schools.
