Northeastern High prepares to celebrate 50 years

Northeastern High School was opened in 1969. While the school is already celebrating many 50th milestones, the celebration will continue into 2019-20.

Northeastern officials encourage alumni to come out for homecoming on Oct. 12. There will be designated areas for tailgating, as well as tents filled with Northeastern memorabilia. The football plays Currituck that night starting at 7:30 p.m. The grounds will be open at 5 p.m. for tailgating and the gates will open at 6 p.m. The tailgating event is being hosted by the school; therefore, alcohol is prohibited. Tickets for the football game are $6 each.

This year the school will celebrate the 50th first day of school, the 50th prom, the 50th yearbook edition, the 50th graduation ceremony and many other events that took place during that first year of the new school. The 50th homecoming, as well as the first graduating class of 1969-70 will be honored next year.

The district is asking alumni to follow the Facebook page for Northeastern High School. Events also will be posted on the district website calendar at www.ecpps.k12.nc.us .
