From staff reports
Wednesday, November 6, 2019
College of The Albemarle’s ninth annual Wellness Fair will be held on Thursday and again on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the AE and A buildings of the Elizabeth City campus.
On both dates, the free event is open to the public, including children who are accompanied by a parent, and to students, faculty and staff from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Wellness Fair is an opportunity for second year associate degree nursing and medical assisting students to practice what they’ve have learned in their courses. This year, more than 20 healthcare partners and community groups throughout the college’s service area have committed to participating.
“This is an event that benefits students in Health Sciences, but it also provides an avenue for the general public to learn about ways to get healthy and stay healthy in a fun environment for free,” said Robin Harris, dean of COA’s Health Sciences and Wellness programs. “The partners that dedicate their time to this event each year help raise awareness about the contributions that they make to our community’s physical and mental health each and every day. Working side by side with us is an important part of educating our students about interprofessional collaboration and the importance of knowing and mobilizing the resources of their community to help those in need.”
