MANTEO — John A. Holmes girls tennis player Sydney Morris was named the Albemarle Athletic Conference Player of the Year at the league's individual tournament Wednesday at Manteo High School.
The Lady Aces (9-6-1, 5-0-0 AAC) clinched the league regular-season championship and a berth into the NCHSAA 1A dual team playoffs on Oct. 17.
Pasquotank 6, Hertford County 3: Pasquotank defeated Hertford County Wednesday evening at Pasquotank.
Jalen Haist scored three goals, Mateo Perez had a goal and three assists, Darsh Patel had a goal and an assist, Chandler Walton, and Chase Perry each added a goal, while Jimmy Padilla had an assist in the win for the Panthers (7-2-2, 3-2-0 Northeastern Coastal).
First Flight 7, Northeastern 0: The Nighthawks (11-1-0, 5-0-0 NCC) secured the shutout win at Northeastern Wednesday.
Tanner Bouker scored two goals with an assist, while five other players scored in the win for First Flight in the league match.
Northeastern (6-6-2, 1-4-0 NCC) returns to action Oct. 17 at Currituck.
Camden 3, John A. Holmes 2, OT: The Bruins (8-6-4, 5-4-0 AAC) secured the Albemarle Athletic Conference win in two overtimes Wednesday at Camden Community Park.
Edenton (8-8-1, 4-4-0 AAC) hosts Currituck Monday.
Ridgecroft School 9, Albemarle School 0: The Colts (3-6-1) fell to Ridgecroft in the TIC Tournament Wednesday.
Pungo Christian def. Albemarle School 25-23, 23-25, 25-12, 25-10: The Lady Colts (15-3) lost in the TIC Tournament Wednesday.
Taylor Stallings posted nine kills, an ace, a block and two digs, Brooke Perry had eight kills, two digs and two aces in the loss.
Samantha Nixon had four kills and four assists, Deniz Bekci posted two kills, three digs, Ava Morris had 10 assists and Monique Guzman-Torres posted eight assists and two digs.
