Currituck County High School's Paul Bossi was recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for reaching a career milestone.

The coach was recognized by the organization for compiling 300 dual meet wins at the high school level.

During his wrestling coaching career, Bossi has coached the sport in North Carolina and Massachusetts.

He has also coached the sport at the middle school level.

Bossi has over 400 career wins with middle school and high school victories combined.

The coach completed his 15th season leading the Knights in wrestling this winter.

Currituck won the Northeastern Coastal Conference dual team regular season championship along with the conference individual tournament team championship and advanced to the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 2A dual team state playoffs in January.

Bossi is set to step down as Currituck’s wrestling coach after being named the head football coach at Currituck in December.


Currituck 5, John A. Holmes 4: The Knights (2-2) secured the non-conference win at John A. Holmes High School in Edenton Tuesday.

Currituck earned wins in singles from No. 1 Kaleb Kight with a 6-3, 6-1 result against Edenton’s William Whichard, No. 2 Josh Crisell with a 6-1, 6-1 result against Edenton’s Ryan Tunney, Cody Kirnan’s 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles against Holmes’ Wilson Mason and Ryan VanKirk’s 6-3, 6-0 victory against Edenton’s Grayson O’Neal in No. 6 singles.

The Aces earned wins in singles from No. 4 Shane Spruill with a 6-4, 7-6(7-1) result over Currituck’s Logan Dimier and Evans Manson’s 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 5 singles against the Knights’ Keith Swanson.

Edenton (1-3) won two of the three doubles matches as the Aces’ No. 1 pair of Whichard and Tunney bested Kight and Crisell 8-5 and Holmes’ No. 2 doubles of Evans and Wilson Mason defeated Currituck’s Kirnan and Swanson 8-6.

Currituck clinched the match in No. 3 doubles as its duo of Dimier and VanKirk defeated O’Neal and Spruill 8-6.


Manteo 16, Northeastern 0: The Eagles (1-4) lost the non-conference game against the Redskins (3-1) at Manteo High School Tuesday.

Casey Redd, Simeon Hurdle and Connor Stevenson each recorded a hit for NHS.


Albemarle School 10, Terra Ceia Christian 7: The Lady Colts (1-1, 1-0 TIC) earned their first win of the season at Terra Ceia Tuesday in a Tarheel Independent Conference matchup.
