AHOSKIE — The Currituck softball team defeated Hertford County 17-1 in five innings Tuesday on the road.
Currituck (12-2, 7-0 Northeastern Coastal Conference) was led offensively by Elizabeth Hewitt who had a triple, two runs scored and three RBI, Shelbey Pippin went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI, Destiny Moyers had a hit with two runs scored and a RBI, while Amree Powers, Layla Cartwright and Gracey Capps were each credited with a RBI in the win.
Cartwright pitched five innings, gave up two hits, a run, a walk and posted 13 strikeouts.
Hertford County (5-11, 2-5 NCC) scored a run in the fourth inning.
Bertie 10, Pasquotank 0: The Panthers (1-11, 0-7 NCC) lost to the Falcons (7-8, 5-2 NCC) at Bertie Tuesday.
Bertie 2, Pasquotank 1: The Panthers (4-9, 2-5 Northeastern Coastal Conference) fell short at Bertie Tuesday night.
Bertie (7-10, 3-4 Northeastern Coastal Conference) was led at the plate by Caleb Damo who went 3-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI, William Alston was credited with a RBI in the win.
Alden Cottle pitched seven innings, gave up a hit, no earned runs and struck out 14 Pasquotank batters in the win.
Currituck 13, Hertford County 4: The Knights (13-3, 7-0 NCC) secured the league win in Ahoskie Tuesday.
Austin Pace went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and two RBI, Will Harrell had a double with a run scored and two RBI, Conner Hamilton had a hit with two RBI, Cannon Pickell and William Langley each had a hit with two runs scored and a RBI, Austin Warren posted a hit with two runs scored and Josh Beazley was credited with a RBI in the win.
Currituck’s Cole Bates pitched four innings, gave up four hits, no earned runs and posted six strikeouts.
Hertford County (2-15, 0-7 NCC) was led by Alden Lassiter who posted a double with a RBI, while Tyrek Beverly who had a hit with a run scored and a RBI.
Gates 12, Camden 0: The Red Barons (12-5, 4-3 Albemarle Athletic Conference) earned the league win in six innings at Camden Tuesday.
Josh Olsen had two hits with a RBI to pace Gates.
Camden (3-15, 0-7 AAC) travels to Gatesville for a matchup with Gates today.
Currituck 1, TEACH (Va.) 0: Currituck (11-4-0) held off TEACH in Virginia Tuesday.
John A. Holmes 9, Perquimans 0: Edenton (9-5, 4-2 Albemarle Athletic Conference) earned the conference win at home Tuesday night.
Malorie Gonzalez and Jessica Copeland each scored two goals with an assist, Anna Bass scored two goals, while Lilly Bunch, Amy Turner and Jamie Hamm scored in the win.
Turner also added two assists.
Perquimans (1-12, 0-5 AAC) returns to action May 1 at Camden.
