High School Roundup | Camden upsets Hobbton in boys' soccer state playoffs

The Camden County High School boys’ soccer team defeated No. 6 seed Hobbton 2-0 Saturday in the second round of the NCHSAA Class 1A state playoffs at Hobbton.
The No. 11 seed Bruins (12-5-3) advanced to the third round of the state playoffs in the East Regional against No. 3 seed Raleigh Charter (17-3).
Wallace-Rose Hill 4, Currituck 1: The No. 13 seed Knights (11-5-4) end their season in the second round of the state playoffs Saturday to the No. 4 seed Bulldogs (20-4) at Wallace-Rose Hill.
East Bladen 3, Northeastern 0: The No. 24 seed Northeastern (11-8-1) lost to No. 9 seed East Bladen (16-3-1) Wednesday at East Bladen in the first round of the state playoffs.
NCHSAA state championships: Camden, Currituck, First Flight and Perquimans sent athletes to the NCHSAA cross country state championships Saturday at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville.
In the Class 1A girls’ race Camden’s Hannah Healy finished in 14th place with a time of 20 minutes, 53.27 seconds.
North Stokes’ Abigail Hemrick won the girls’ race with a time of 19:19.17, while Research Triangle won the girls’ team championship.
Camden finished in fifth place.
In the Class 2A girls’ race, Currituck’s Hailee Reinke finished in 35th place. First Flight’s Lily Snow placed 47th.
First Flight was seventh, while Currituck finished in 11th in the team competition. North Lincoln’s Angie Allen won the girls 2A state championship with a time of 18:42.23, while Carrboro won the girls’ 2A team state championship.
In the Class 1A boys’ race, Camden’s Ethen Osborn finished in 48th place, while Perquimans’ Jayden White placed 57th.
Franklin Academy’s Aaron Rovnak won the boys’ meet with a time of 16:05.97, while Lincoln Charter won the team competition.
In the Class 2A boys’ meet, First Flight’s Zach Hughes finished fourth with a time of 16:03.86.
North Lincoln’s Jason Thomson won the meet with a time of 15:40.66, while North Lincoln won the team competition. First Flight was second.
