Presidential Ball took a lot of hard work, effort and expertise to accomplish. Marshaling the spirit of the community, this group leaders paid tribute to our past while having the good time in the present and paving the way the future of our historic sites. From left to right (Bob Hopkins, director of Edenton State Historic Site, President James Monroe and Kevin Cherry is the deputy secretary of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources and director of the Office of Archives and History.
The Presidential Ball was held Saturday night at the 1767 Chowan County Courthouse green. The event, which celebrated the 200th anniversary of President James Monroe's visit to Edenton, featured Colonial era food and dance. Dennis Bigelow, an re-enactor, portrayed Monroe.
